Flametree Cellar Door and Winery lies among the idyllic shores of Geographe Bay, at the gateway to the Margaret River wine region.
The estate owned by the Towner family whose passion for wine, combined with their vision of becoming a world recognised winery, has produced exceptional quality wines with an elegant, laid-back style.
Flametree has the philosophy that by working growers from a number of Margaret River sub-regions, the best parcels of fruits can be chosen from diversely different vineyards to create stunning and distinctive wines. This mindset has allowed this, relatively young, estate to win a number of respected awards—including Australia's most well-known wine accolade, the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy, with their first red wine.
In 2007, the Towner family saw a great opportunity in the Flametree estate in the Margaret River region. After discovering their winemaking homeland, the family saw an opportunity in combining the three fundamental elements that create stunning wines: flavour, structure and balance. This is symbolised in their logo, a spectacular Australian tree that only blooms when all the conditions are right, echoing the estate’s winemaking philosophy.
Within region there are several sub-regions which produce certain varieties of grape better than others. The Towner family recognised an opportunity in this, as each of these vineyards has its own terroir which yields fruit with individual characters and flavours.
By hand-selecting the region’s most exceptional vineyards, Flametree wines were created using the best aspects of each grape.
The Flametree estate has achieved enormous accolades in its relatively short history. Their 2007 Cabernet Merlot won the prestigious Jimmy Watson Trophy and their 2008 Cabernet Merlot achieved a finalist place in the 2009 award. Every year since 2011, Flametree has also been classified by James Halliday as a 5* winery.
Today, the estate continues this unprecedented success with many further awards and outstanding critic reviews.
