“The 2009 Reserva is produced with Tempranillo grapes from their own vineyards in the zone known as El Gallo in Elciego on chalk and clay soils at 550 meters altitude. The grapes fermented in cement vats and the wine matured in French oak barrels for 18 months. It’s a little closed with shy aromas of ripe fruit and a good layer of spices and oak-related aromas. It is quite young and not showing much evolution. The palate feels balanced, serious and solid with good tannins and enough acidity to support a good depth of fruit. It’s approachable now but it has the stuffing and balance to develop in bottle. Very good value given the quality and the fact that they are offering a mature wine at the price of other bottles four years younger. 15,000 bottles produced.” Luiz Gutierrez (erobertparker.com) 91/100
